Are you ready to take your sailing skills to the next level and explore the open waters of Lake Michigan? Our ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising course will equip you with the knowledge and confidence needed for safe and successful coastal expeditions.

This course offers a challenging and rewarding experience, taking you across Lake Michigan, with potential stops at destinations like Ludington or Frankfort, depending on weather and conditions. Over five days, you’ll sail aboard a fully equipped bluewater cruiser, practicing essential skills like night sailing, chart navigation, electronic piloting, and anchoring. You’ll also learn advanced techniques such as float plan development, sail trim, weather analysis, heavy weather handling, and emergency procedures. Boat systems and troubleshooting are also covered, with a focus on problem-solving and self-sufficiency for extended coastal cruising. The Advanced Cruising & Seamanship textbook is included with the course and will be mailed to you upon registration.

For those who haven’t yet obtained their ASA 105, Coastal Navigation certification, you have the option to take ASA 105 online ahead of time through our website at Sea Safaris Online and complete the final exam during the trip.
